Which release should I use?
There are many types of releases and each have a different target audience. In general, the latest release stable release is recommended for use on a production server.
-
Stable
If you just want to run a stable version of MediaFrame on a production server, the latest stable release is recommended. Stable versions are tested and do not have any experimental code. -
Release candidate
Before a release is determined stable a number of release candidates will be distributed. These candidates are used for testing and should eventually result in a stable release. -
Beta version
Beta versions are distributed on relatively stable points in the development process of a new release. Beta versions usually have many new features and should give a good impression on how the development is progressing. -
Alpha version
Alpha versions are experimental builds that are used early in the development process to test new features. Alpha builds are usually not finished and some features may even be non-functionial. -
Development builds
Everytime we want to test a new feature in the field a development build is released. A development build is usually based on an earlier Alpha, Beta or Release candidate, but has too little changes to justify a new version. The stability of development builds is difficult to predict, it depends largely on the stability of the release on which it was based. -
Source code
We provide the source code for MediaFrame for both transparency and developmental reasons. You sould download the source code if you are interested in expanding the project, bug fixing or intergrating the code with your own projects. Any changes that you make should be sent back to us for inclusion on this page.
