Protect your content online with the MediaFrame Digital Rights Manager
With the MediaFrame Digital Rights Manager (MDRM), content owners can now deliver music, videos and other media over the Internet in a protected format. Consumers can legitimately obtain digital media files with ease and, in this way, maintain the rights of the content owners.
MDRM is a stand alone application for the conversion of your media to our propriatary s-mpeg (secure-mpeg) format. It's available now and works in conjunction with all currently availble versions of MediaFrame.
MDRM enables:
- The complete lock down of content including the prevention of local playback
- Per domain playback restrictions, preventing the hosting of protected content on other servers
- The prevention of bandwidth theft (leeching) by unknown users
What is DRM?
The Internet and personal computers have dramatically changed the way media content (such as music, films, and books), are produced, distributed and consumed.
Downloading encoded files has gained acceptance among Internet-savvy users because it provides immediate access to desired content and does not require a trip to a store or reliance on physical media, such as a CD or DVD. However, digital media content that is available for sale on the Internet is still limited, as content owners, artists, and publishers are concerned about protecting their copyrighted works from illegal use. As the market evolves and content owners explore new ways to enable different business models, more content will become available on the Internet.
Before owners of premium digital media content will offer their valuable content for sale or promotion, a secure e-commerce system that protects digital content from illegal use is needed. A critical component of any such e-commerce system is digital rights management (DRM).
DRM is a set of technologies content owners can use to protect their copyrights and stay in closer contact with their customers. In most instances, DRM is a system that encrypts digital media content and limits access to only those people who have acquired a proper license to play the content. That is, DRM is a technology that enables the secure distribution, promotion, and sale of digital media content on the Internet.
Why is DRM important?
The advent of the personnel computer and the Internet has significantly altered the way digital media content such as music videos and films, are produced, distributed and consumed. Internet users increasingly rely on downloading the content that they are interested in rather than physically going to the store to purchase it.
The widespread popularity of applications such as Kazaa and other P2P file-sharing programs demonstrates this fact.
Digital Rights Management is the means of securing digital files. Without DRM, a single legal copy of a music video can be distributed freely to literally millions of individuals in a matter of minutes. DRM empowers content providers by allowing them the control over the distribution of their content.
How do I get hold of MDRM?
Unlike the main MediaFrame software, MediaFrame Digital Rights Manager is closed sourced. This is to help protect the security of MDRM users content. We are currently assessing our options for the distribution of the software, but imagine selling it for a small lisence fee. Contact us for further information.
